ISLAM THE PEACE RELIGION

Religion Islam is propagated and taught by the Prophet Muhammad SAW is the religion that is intended for the welfare and safety of all people of all the worlds. The word Islam itself is derived from arabic means submissive, obidient, happy, prosperous, and peaceful. Thus, Islam teachs Muslims to always uphold peace in the world so that the fraternity can interwoven tightly.

Before the Holy Prophet sent by God Almighty to teach Islamic religion, history records that human life at that time known as the periode of ignorance. In an age of ignorance was a lot happening ruthlessness such as murder, animosity, oppression, and so farth. However, after the Prophet Muhammad SAW was sent as messenger of God and convey the teachings of Islam, proof that Islam is religion of peace to come. Followers of the Prophet Muhammad SAW was gradually many, Islam become the religion that promises salvation and prosperity. This is in accordance with the word of God Almighty:
وَ مَا أرْسَلْنَاكَ إلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلعَالَمِيْنَ (الأنبياء:107)
“We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures”

No Coercion In Islam
Unlike many other religions where people were offered either conversion and peace or death, Islam came with the just word of our creator. In Quran 2:256:
لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الغَيِّ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَاغُوْتِ وَ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالعُرْوَةِ الوُثْقَى لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا وَ اللهُ سَمِيْعٌ عَلِيْمٌ (البقرة:256)
“Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands out clear from error, whoever rejects Tagut and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.”
There are other verses talk that no coercion in Islam
وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَأمَنَ فِي الأرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيْعًا أَفَأَنْتَ تُكْرِهُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَكُوْنُوْا مُؤْمِنِيْنَ (يونس:99)
“If it had been thy Lord’s will, they would all have believed, all who are on earth wilt thou then compel mankind, againts their will, to believe!”



Justice & Fairness to Non-Muslims
In This regard, Muslims are governed by the rules that the relationship with non-Muslims should be based on justice, mutual respect, cooperation, and communication. The Quran is very explicit about the justice part of the relationship when God stated in Verse 60:08
لَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللهُ عَنِ الَذِيْنَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوْكُمْ فِالدِّيْنِ وَ لَمْ يُخْرِجُوْكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ أَنْ تَبَرُّوْهُمْ وَ تُقْسِطُوْا إِلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ المُقْسِطِيْنَ (الممتحنة:8)
“Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them, for Allah loveth those who are just.”

Peace and Jihad
The root of the word Jihad is Jahada which means "spent the energy". The following need some clarification concerning the concept of Jihad in Islam:
• The acts of Jihad are limitless in Islam. Work, going to school, even having sex with your spouse is classified as an act of Jihad in Islam that one will be rewarded for doing them.
• The highest stage of Jihad is fighting the enemy of Muslims and Islam.
• Defending your family, money, land, country...etc. by all means including the armed means are also considered Jihad.

Viewed from the side of the course, no one else that ordered religious adherents to hostile and hurting another human being. But in public life is not rare that we find religion a source of conflict. All this happened because of problem of interpretation, which affect the religious consciousness in general is limited awareness on specific text and ignore other text. Finally, the interpretation of the birth is interpretation that experienced infertility intertextuality. That is the text can not negotiate and negotiated with other texts. The truth of this text only, otherwise there is no truth. This text should be applied, if not, religion will not be straight. That theological awareness that led to the birth of violence in the name of religion.
We need to cultivate awareness of peace based on justice to reach a friendly Islamic consciousness not an angry Muslim. Kaffah understanding of Islam and not half understanding.
Command or suggestion to do good to others is the initial capital to build peace. Good deeds for others is the main door in peace. Peace will not be created with ruthlessness because it will always show resistance from people who have been wronged. Like the saying goes, the ants would be angry if stepped on. Therefore the commands of Islam to his people to do good works is the foundation for the realization of world peace.
